Condoleezza Rice ceases to perceive her deception, lies with sincerity

October 15, 2007 – Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is concerned that the Russian government under Vladimir Putin has amassed too much central authority.  She thinks there is too much concentration of power in the Kremlin – this according to the October 14, 2007 Associated Press article, Putin’s power a problem, Rice said.

Rice, speaking in Moscow, also said, “In any country, if you don’t have countervailing institutions, the power of any one president is problematic for democratic development.  She questioned the independence of the Russian electronic media and the Duma – the Russian parliament.

The Duma is the Russian equivalent of the U.S. Congress.

Rice encouraged Russian activists to build institutions of democracy to combat arbitrary state power amid increasing pressure from the Kremlin.  She said that the Russian people have the right to not have to deal with the arbitrary power of the state.

Is it possible that Rice is so blind that she cannot see the parallels between the power amassed in the Kremlin, and the power amassed in the White House?  Her hypocrisy is an embarrassment to the United States on the world stage.

Or is it that Condoleezza Rice has simply ceased to perceive her deception?  Does she lie to herself with sincerity as the only remaining defense to justify her collaboration with what amounts to a criminal administration?  Putin’s power a problem?  Maybe it is in Russia.  However, what about Bush’s power?  What about Cheney’s power?  We have our own power problems in the United States.  Yet Rice is at home kicking with her hind legs while she licks with her tongue – a Russian proverb defining a hypocrite.

Does Rice really believe Putin’s power is a problem or is her position based on the fact that Russia stands in defense of Iran and therefore in the way of Bush, Cheney, and the neocon cartel? The CIA is most likely behind the leak to the news media of the assassination plot that awaits Putin’s visit to Tehran this coming week.  It is quite possible that the CIA is actually behind any plan to assassinate Putin.  It is beyond dispute that not only does the majority of Americans want all U.S. troops out of Iraq, but also are adamantly opposed to any military action against Iran.  What good are countervailing institutions when there are no criminal consequences for a rogue presidency that utterly ignores the will of the people – whether in the United States or in Russia?

The President with too much power in the White House has thus far got away, for all practical purposes, with the abolishment of the 4th Amendment.  He has conducted illegal wiretaps.  He has authorized torture.  Bush’s denial of torture is the equivalent of Clinton’s denial of having “sexual relationships with that woman”.  He purposely called for and selected false intelligence to justify invading Iraq.  His actions have resulted in over one hundred thousand Iraq civilian deaths and the displacement of nearly two million Iraqis.  Under the most stringent interpretations, Bush / Cheney easily should be on trial for war crimes.

There are trillions – yes, trillions of dollars missing from the Department of Defense.  Bush-supporting contractors – the war profiteers have no compelling interest to end conflict in Iraq.  The compelling interest is to continue operations in Iraq and expand beyond.  Bush / Cheney are responsible for this fleecing of the nation’s treasure, but they fear no accountability – no justice.  They should be handcuffed and taken away to face justice – yet the Congress is powerless because it gave away its power to the executive branch.

There are many other crimes that the Bush Administration and its supporters need to pay for promptly.  The list is endlessly really, and treason is reasonable, if for no other reason then the CIA sting operation that videotaped Osama bin Laden on September 26, 2001 rather than capturing or killing him.  Bush / Cheney had to have authorized this operation.  I’m sure they have their Oliver North on standby if the censored independent U.S. news media ever tells this story – shame on us if we allow such trickery to pass as plausible deniability once again.

If the Congress will not do its duty on both sides of the isle and see to it that justice is served, they will continue to invite vigilante justice to emerge in the United States.  All signs indicate that the inmates are growing restless!

I suspect that Condoleezza Rice would welcome vigilante justice to rise up against Putin’s power in Russia.  Where will she hide if the tables turn?
